- Distinctive Programmes
The QSS Experience provides varied programmes and opportunities to nurture every Queenswayan to become caring, responsible citizens and confident, life-long learners. The school's Applied Learning Programme, Promoting a Sustainable Environment, focuses on raising students' understanding on sustainability issues in Singapore, and how technology is used to overcome challenges facing sustainability. Sec 1 students will learn about water sustainability, including constructing a sea perch for application in water sample collection and testing. Sec 2 students will learn about food sustainability through nutrition, food safety, waste management and food security. Selected students can look forward to learning the programming language used in Micro:bit and Arduino boards to solve authentic sustainability problems. A distinctive Sports for Life and Outdoor Education Programme as our Learning for Life Programme is designed for building character and values through active participation in sports and outdoor activities. In addition, the Talent Development Programmes (TDP) cater to students with special talents, and develop their distinct ability and passion. For instance, students in our English TDP would experience writing and speaking workshops, learning journeys, and participate in local and international competitions. The school is also part of the Library Of The Future project where it supports the building of a strong reading and learning culture through a school-wide reading programme, and a revamped library space. The school's Co-Curricular Activities, Character & Citizenship Education and Student Development & Leadership programmes have strong emphasis on character development, leadership, national education, community building and service. Students at each level are cared for and mentored by their Class Mentors and Year Heads who oversee their holistic development and work with school management to ensure effective delivery of student-centric, values-driven education.
