Culture of Care and Culture of Improvement

In line with our school values (Loyalty, Filial Piety, Integrity, Justice, Diligence, Prudence, Sincerity, Modesty), Poi Ching School inculcates in our Students, Staff and Stakeholders the mindset to look outwardly from self to interactions with their peers, family, community and the environment. Hence, the focus on the culture of care.

School emphasizes Leading by Caring, and this philosophy is integrated into our Student Leadership Programme where the P5 and 6 students demonstrate care by initiating projects and programmes for the juniors, for example the P6 students organize the yearly CCA Open House for P1 and 2 students. Students and staff, in turn, are inspired to strive for improvement as we care for self and others.

  • Distinctive Programmes

Leveraging on our SAP status, we design programmes that motivates and engages students to learn and appreciate the Chinese culture in a variety of ways. Through the PCS SAP Flagship Programme, our students are exposed to various learning experiences such as Wushu, Chinese Calligraphy, literature, understanding of local culture and contemporary China. Our Applied Learning Programme (ALP), "Developing a Bilingual, Effective Speaker and Writer in every PCS student" equips our students with the skills to think, respond, write and speak confidently in both English and Chinese Language. As an extension of the programme, students will assume the roles of emcees for major school events. Students with a flair for languages will also have the opportunity to publish their bilingual articles in our annual 'Qing Miao' publication. The Learning for Life Programme (LLP) "D'ARTS@PCS" provides platforms for our students to sharpen their social skills, discover their strengths and talents, acquire a sense of empathy and care, learn to respect diversity and appreciate our multi-cultural heritage. Students are exposed to broad-based Aesthetics curriculum such as drama, dance, instrumental modules and varied Aesthetics experiences such as hands-on Performing Arts CCA sessions, performing opportunities, learning journeys, assembly programmes and external talent development programme. Our Values in Action Programme is anchored on helping the needy, sustaining a green school environment, building bonds with and caring for the community. This is to create awareness amongst students and instil a sense of belonging and responsibility towards their community. As individuals who are part of the community, students are encouraged to contribute actively to its improvement as much as possible.
